Health Tech/Biotech
The Problem
Over 3.5 billion people live with oral diseases, yet most are diagnosed only after visible symptoms appear. Traditional dental checkups rely on reactive care instead of prevention. Meanwhile, saliva quietly carries biomarkers that reveal stress, diet, and microbial health, but those signals go untracked.
The Solution
Microbiome MouthGuard+ is a smart oral-health device that fits effortlessly into a nightly routine. Embedded biosensors detect pH, cortisol, glucose, and bacterial indicators to provide insights on oral and gut health. The data syncs to a mobile app that turns complex information into clear, visual feedback users can trust.

User Insights
Interviews with users aged 21 to 60 revealed shared priorities: trust, comfort, and clinical credibility. They wanted a solution that respects privacy, fits existing habits, and makes invisible health data easy to understand.
“ Users don’t need another gadget, they need clarity, simplicity, and value. Explain the science, make it easy, and make it worth it. ”

Competitive Analysis
My Role
As Research and Product Strategist, I led the competitive analysis and user insight phases that informed product direction. My key contributions included:
Conducting user interviews and synthesizing feedback into actionable insights
Developing the feature prioritization framework to align user value with technical feasibility
Mapping competitive benchmarks to identify gaps and differentiation opportunities
This project was a collaborative group effort with fellow graduate students from the USC Iovine and Young Academy, combining design, technology, and business perspectives to create an innovative product vision.
Microbiome MouthGuard+ turns sleep into a source of insight. It connects biotech innovation with daily habit, helping people understand their health in real time and act before problems arise.
